Savages is an upcoming crime–thriller film directed by Oliver Stone. It is based on the novel of the same name by Don Winslow, who co-wrote the script with Stone and Shane Salerno. The film is set for release July 6, 2012, and stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, and Blake Lively.

When their hippie girlfriend, O (Blake Lively), is kidnapped, two marijuana growers – University of California, Berkeley graduate Ben (Aaron Johnson) and former U.S. Navy SEAL Chon (Taylor Kitsch) – confront a Mexican drug cartel (led by Salma Hayek and Benicio del Toro) to rescue her. Uma Thurman plays O's mother and John Travolta plays a DEA agent.

By August 2011, the film was shooting in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. The film entered post-production in October 2011.

Before casting Taylor Kitsch in the film, Oliver Stone asked Peter Berg to show him 30 minutes of Kitsch's work in Battleship to see how he was as a leading man, and after seeing that footage, he cast him.
