Read more about Ren and Stimpy at: Wikipedia Official Site: John Kricfalusi The Ren & Stimpy Show is an American animated television series created by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi. The series concerns the adventures of the titular characters: Ren Höek, a psychotic "asthma-hound" chihuahua, and Stimpson J. Cat, a dimwitted Manx cat. They wander around having nonsensical adventures in a surreal style reminiscent of the Golden Age of American animation, especially the 1940s cartoons by Bob Clampett and Tex Avery. The Ren & Stimpy Show premiered on Nickelodeon on Sunday, August 11, 1991, and was the third of the three original Nicktoons (Doug and Rugrats having debuted earlier the same day). The show aired new episodes on the channel from 1991 to 1996. The Ren & Stimpy Show had a reputation for indecent humor. The controversy was mainly a result of imagery and violence as well as language and sex references. In 1992, MTV Networks dismissed Kricfalusi and production moved from Kricfalusi's Spümcø studios to Games Animation, where it stayed until its cancellation for Nickelodeon in 1996. Reruns are broadcast currently by Nickelodeon Canada, Australia and Nicktoons. Three episodes of the show were banned by the Nickelodeon censors: "Man's Best Friend" (later appears in "Ren & Stimpy - The Complete First and Second Seasons DVD" ); "Sammy and Me" (banned for the part where Stimpy gouges his eye out to insert a fake eye); and "The Last Temptation of Ren" (banned because it was to air with "Sammy and Me"). These episodes aired on MTV in later years. The show now airs a marathon on Nicktoons on weeknights, along with Rocko's Modern Life and CatDog. CBUB Match Record:
