It started with Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, the first game with Wario as a playable character, and gained many sequels. The Wario series includes mostly platforming video games and minigame compilations, but also includes other genres.

While the first two games were developed by Nintendo R&D1, subsequent games have been co-developed by Intelligent Systems.
