The first set of seven episodes was released on May 27, 2022, and the second set, of two episodes, will be released on July 1, 2022. The events of the fourth season take place eight months after the end of the third season, as strange deaths tied to the Upside Down cause paranoia among Hawkins' residents. This season was produced by the show's creators the Duffer Brothers, along with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Iain Paterson and Curtis Gwinn. Returning as series regulars include Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Priah Ferguson, while Brett Gelman, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser were promoted to series regulars.
