The Syndicate attempts to keep its activities quiet in the pursuit of wealth and power. The syndicate is made up of a particular cross-section of villainy, but with a focus on organized crime, opposed to individual criminals or sheer destruction. Their purpose is to exploit and control the world, not to destroy it. The Syndicate align themselves with neutral or even lawful evil; the creation of chaos is not good for the bottom line.
The successful Syndicate member will keep an eye on the bottom line, know when to cut their losses and remember that crime does pay well if you are smart. Our goals are to get our fingers into as many pies as possible and always get a cut of the action. We prefer to avoid overt attention and have our bought and paid for politicians, media figures and corporate fronts cover our tracks. It's just business.
The origins of The Syndicate spring from the antiquity of the first human civillizations and first criminals. Fat cats, pirates, con-men and thugs raking in their ill-gotten wealth and transferring it and the lessons of aquiring it forward. As the peoples of Earth grew closer together through communications and global trade, criminal elements from different parts of the globe met and began working together. As the technology advanced and allowed fast planetary communication more criminals from every continent joined the loose Syndicate network. Today it is truly a planetary organization which can be found in every major metro area. However, different factions of the Syndicate have their squabbles - often bloody.
