Darkender

The dark streets were littered with trash. It flew with the breeze like the leaves of autumn. The street lights flickered above the grey concrete as a woman attempted to run in her heels, her cries for help fell on deaf ears. The KPD didn’t make runs through this district at this time of night. The people of the neighborhood simply closed their eyes tighter, drew their shades closer, and turned their televisions up louder.

They’d learned to mind their business.

The woman raced on, her pursuer calmly closing the distance. She screamed as she could feel the man, his hand out-stretched and nearing her black hair. He pulled her on and she screeched harder, louder. It felt as if her throat bled but she didn’t stop. She fought and kicked as he pulled her into the alleyway and stuck the cool blade to her throat. He then aggressively grabbed her crotch and caressed it while he groped her and spoke.

“There’s no one to her hear you darling.”

“That’s where you are wrong.” The voice came from nowhere and everywhere at once as the man’s body stiffened.

The woman fell to the ground, wiping away her tears of fear as a man descended from the dark sky. Her attacker floated above her as her savior met him in the air.

“I grow weary, so very weary of these games. Michael Roachford. You’ve been sentenced three times for your crimes against humanity by a jury of your peers yet here you are. This, this system is broken. It is inept, and unable to keep up with the new dark and twisted ways of the world. But, I intend to right that wrong. I will end this vicious cycle, and spare your next victim. You will be the first of many wrongs righted.”

He tightened his fist and Michael’s body contorted into every gruesome shape before the last of his blood oozed from every crevice of his body.

“I am Master Black. I will bring this dark time to an end.” He said, his voice ringing with conviction.

“What do you intend to accomplish?”

“I intend to accomplish peace, serenity even.” Master Black spoke with his back turned to Terrorbyte as he looked down upon the broken city of Khazan.

“The Sentinels, they won’t have it. There will be war.”

“Maybe that is what this city needs.”

“Seems like the opposite of peace to me.”

“Peace will follow.” Black answered quickly. “The people will need to see the might of their new heroes. We will expose the weakness of the sentinels.” He paused for a moment collecting his thought before he spoke again. “Do you fear the war, Terrorbyte?”

“Of course not, just seeing where your head is at. What do we do now?”

“We wait for our moment.”

Teleportation

     Teleportation: superior (rank 2)

The shots could be heard from Master Black’s perch upon Archer’s Bell Tower. Apparently, “Arc”, or Broderick O’Mahley had escaped transport to Adder Island. Not a surprising or rare event, and only a matter of time in the eyes of some. Black turned to Terrorbyte, who played in the corner with his self-devised trinkets, and pointed to the scene.

“There.” He said.

Broderick had the armored truck flipped and was picking off the cops with his signature bolts of lightning as they arrived. Black could faintly feel his fractured mind from where he stood.

“Are you serious? This is about to be too easy.” He stood and waited for transport.

Black took in a deep breath before they both disappeared from the room.

Telekinesis

They suddenly appeared on the scene. A bolt skewed by and Black effortlessly pushed the targeted and unaware officer to the ground, saving his life.

“Why couldn’t we wait for a real villain to show up? Oooh, we could have riled up the Fallen, or even the Syndicate.”

“No… Think of this as a demonstration.” He grinned as he cracked his knuckles.

He focused on the armored van, flexing his telekinetic muscles, and then moved it from covering Broderick. It screeched across the asphalt before colliding in the face of the street building.

“Stand down officers!” Black yelled. He and Terrorbyte now stood between them and Broderick.

The electricity crackled around his muscular frame as Broderick spoke.

“I suppose you fellas plan on taking me back to Adders? Well, don’t be shocked to learn I’m not coming easily!”

Terrorbyte bit his tongue, “...Wow, an electricity pun.”

Broderick flexed and the air around him crackled and popped as sparks came to life and then amassed before him. Sparks conjoined to form a large ball of living electricity which he then sent packing towards Black and Terrorbyte.

The light was blinding as the attack hit its mark. The KPD slowly peaked back above their squad cars to see Broderick’s smirk fall from his face as the dust vanished.

Black swiftly and seamlessly glided across the ground between him and Broderick and landed a solid haymaker. Broderick twirled thru the air before hitting the ground hard.

Terrorbyte chuckled as he tossed a metal, spherical contraption in his hand. He stepped closer as Black loomed over the finished Broderick, who stirred slightly on the floor.

“This is the end for you O’Mahley.” Black said as he loomed further. Broderick’s limp body rose from the ground and then, suddenly, snapped painfully in every direction.

“I’d say he’s done!” The ground shook as Catatonia landed.

Terrorbyte reacted quickly, taking a step forward and clenching the metal sphere in his hand. Cat stood her ground, her organic metal glinting softly in the falling sun.

“Yes, he is done.” Black replied.

Broderick’s body then contorted in ways bone’s structure simply shouldn’t allow. He rang out in pain. Catatonia reacted quickly, steamrolling towards the group. By the time Terrorbyte threw his little toy, Catatonia was already upon them and knocked it away. It exploded in the distance as she threw a punch towards Black. She could feel an initial resistance from a force that surrounded him, but it quickly fell as the punch landed squarely on Black’s cheek.

Broderick dropped limply to the ground as Black staggered back from the blow.

“You’ve been warned. Stand down.” Catatonia demanded.

Black felt his lip, wiping away a drop of blood. He then, extending his hand, sent a telekinetic wave at Catatonia. The wave caught her off guard, she stumbled back and in the same instance, Terrorbyte quickly pulled something from his sleeves and threw it to the ground in front of her. The device caused a blinding light, and Catatonia braced for an impact that never came.

When her eyes readjusted the two were gone, vanished.

“Your intentions are good, which is why you are still alive, but be warned. In time, I will not allow anyone to stand in the way of the justice that must be brought to Khazan. For, the Dark-Enders shall rise.”

The voice of Black echoed in her head.

"Great."

Catatonia grabbed the unconscious Broderick and leaped to the nearest hospital.
