Chimera, at one point in time was known by another name Sebastian L. Mercy; the man that at the age of twenty was imprisoned for the murders of six fellow college students.
Sebastian’s struggle in life started before his birth. While driving home from a birthing class his parent’s car was hit by a drunk driver, when the ambulance arrived they rushed Sebastian’s mother to the hospital. While his Father lay unconscious in the Emergency room his Mother gave birth to him. When Sebastian’s father awoke he was informed that his son was born three months premature, and his wife’s was soon to pass away.
At the age of ten Sebastian’s father started him in Judo; within a year Sebastian was eager to learn different martial arts. By his seventeenth birthday he had mastered Judo, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, and Keysi fighting method.
After graduating high school Sebastian started attending California State University studying in Biology. Sebastian quickly became popular with the women on campus, and was known to be a ladies man. His third year on campus he was invited to a frat party by one of his girlfriends, at the party he spilt beer on a member of the frat. Sebastian quickly apologized but the drunken frat wouldn’t hear it and started swinging at him. When the other members saw their brother fighting a stranger they jumped into the fight. Sebastian was hit in the head with a beer bottle and then began to fight without thought to injury, soon after the police arrived but it was too late four fraternity members laid life less on the floor. Eight others were rushed to the hospital where two of them died and the others were permanently disabled.
Sebastian’s trial was swift with a guilty plea, and he was sentence to a maximum security prison. Sebastian quickly made a name for himself as a fighter in prison, after five years of new inmate’s attacking him Sebastian started drawing the attention of outside influences. While eating his lunch an unknown man approached him, preparing for a fight Sebastian was taken by surprise when the man sat next to him and said “my company has a proposal for you.” Not interested Sebastian told the man to leave him alone, but the man continued to talk.
“The company I am apart of wants you to come work for us. We could use a man with your skills to fight for us; we can also give you skills you have never dreamed of. You have three days to decide and did I mention it will get you out of this hell.”
When the man went to leave Sebastian grabbed his arm and said, “What makes you think I want to leave my hell. The answer is no.” As the man walked away he began to laugh. Three days later while eating lunch Sebastian was attacked by inmates he had never seen before, before the guards could break it up he was stabbed in the stomach.
In the infirmary the doctor gave him a shot and he quickly began to lose consciousness. When he awoke he was in a strange white room restrained to a bed his wound almost completely healed, and all he could hear was a man asking if the thought modifications were ready to begin. Moments later the unknown man from prison walked in front of him and said, “Did you really think we would let you turn us down. You will work for the Sanctum.” Sebastian asked how long he had been there, and the man replied “two months.”
The man then said, “Don’t worry about prison any more Sebastian L. Mercy died in prison after being stabbed. But now isn’t the time to relax we have to get you wanting to work for us, this is going to be painful but we won’t let you die.”
Every day Sebastian was tortured then told to have it stopped all he had to do was cooperate. After six months of torture and six months of planning his escape. Sebastian was going say whatever he needed to gain their trust. Finally the time was right, or so he thought. He was able to convince the Sanctum of his commitment to their organization, but he was not released from his bindings.
The next day the unknown man entered his room ad said, “This is when the fun starts.” Sebastian was injected with an unknown substance, seconds later he was in extreme pain and before he passed out he heard “we have high hopes for you.” When he awoke he was dazed and couldn’t see, slowly images started to reveal themselves in his right arm was an IV with a bright red liquid running through it. His left arm also had an IV but the liquid was glowing orange he soon passed out again. The next time he awoke he could see clearly he felt rested but he was in a strange room. He hears commencing radiation at thirty thousand millirems and his body begins to feel as if he was falling apart. After an hour the feeling stopped and a gas began to fill the room.
He awoke sitting strapped in a chair he looks around when the unknown man walks into the room along with a younger simple looking man. The unknown man released his bindings and says, “Your name is now Chimera.” He then introduced the younger man who extended a metal gloved hand to shake. When Sebastian shook his hand the glove started to break apart and he knew this was his chance to get away. He quickly stands and takes out the younger guy; he can feel the unknown man approaching quickly he turns to face him, the man hits him in the stomach with a baton making him buckle over. He looks up at the man with hate filled eyes, the man’s cloths catch fire and Sebastian makes his run. In the hallway he can feel the movements of people in the building.
After his escape he makes the decision to use the powers he was given to atone for the sins he has committed. He adopts the name Chimera so Sanctum would know their creation was coming for them. With nowhere to go he decided he needs a place to train his new abilities somewhere no one would ever look for him Death Valley.
