Volatium (Benjamin Briargrove) started life believing he was a nerd destined to always be a nerd. One day in, the middle of his High School years, the angel Bellatus came down and announced to Earth that Zeus had set up a tournament between every planet, and that one being from each planet that showed the most potential to be the greatest warrior would be transported to a hyperbolic time chamber to train for 50 years, but it would only pass as a week for those outside of the chamber. Ben goes to bed that night wondering how Earth will match up against other planets, and wakes up the next morning in a room that seems to go on forever. The Invincible Angel of War later known as Bellatus begins to train him and is shocked how quickly he excels to the greatest limits of human capability. Bellatus thinks his work is done, because he thinks there is no way a human could go farther in training. He is considering leaving Ben for the rest of his 46 years, but during the months leading to his departure Ben becomes even more aggressive in sparring and as Bellatus begins to fly up to avoid him, Ben stops dead in his tracks and gains an intense look of concentration. He begins to feel all of the energy inside him being pulled toward Ben and sees all of the energy accumulating in his hand in the form of a sphere. Before he can fly higher to avoid whatever Ben has up his sleeve he watches the ball turn to a beam and hit him square in the chest. He is curious, because he did not know any human had the ability to manipulate energy, or even the knowledge that it was possible. When he confronted Ben on it he responded that he hadn’t even realized he was doing it, and that it just came to him. For the next few years Bellatus trains Ben on how to use his control of energy, and Ben masters it to the point that he can make an atomic bomb like explosion when slamming the ground, and can make target seeking beams emit from his hands. Bellatus teaches Ben to apply the energy in a way that makes him run faster, and eventually the speed of light. Bellatus leaves him for the remaining ten years so that Ben can train by himself, in ways that could potentially harm Bellatus. He begins the tournament, and the world is amazed at what they see the skinny boy has changed into in what they think is just a week. The tournament begins with him fighting an angel-Bellatus. Zeus has decided that each planets first round will be against their representatives’ trainer. Ben was devastated, but after an intense battle defeats Bellatus and realizes the angel was not invincible, which is made apparent by his now cold lifeless body. In the next round ben kills his next opponent before the announcer finishes saying fight, and immediately runs up the wall to where Zeus’s throne is. He is stopped by an army of angels who kill him and send him to hell. While serving his eternal punishment Ben is approached by Hades who offers him a deal. He can dwell on Earth again as an immortal, so long as he works as Hades’ angel in a war against the heavens, who end up actually being evil, and Ben realizes he is on the benevolent side of the war, and that Hades was descended from heaven because of an attempt at showing the world Zeus’s injustices. Hades gives Ben a pair of wings that can be used as a shield and renames him Volatium. Zeus begins sending the representatives of other planets to earth to find and kill Volatium. Some of these are shown Zeus's evil, and join Volatium in the fight.

Hell fire
Eldritch Energy: superior (rank 2)
- Area Affect
- Target Seeker
These can vary from a small ball of visible light that is the equivalent of a .50 caliber bullet, that can follow their targets, to a bomb like blast of energy seen as a mushroom cloud that disintegrates most things it contacts. The more angry Volatium gets the more powerful his energy balls become. He requires complete rage to create the atomic bomb-like power.
Kinetic Speed
Super Speed: standard (rank 1)
Volatium creates this speed by bursting a wave of energy behind him, that propels him to the speed of light.
flight
Flight: standard (rank 1)
Hades gift of wings, combined with his kinetic speed allow him to fly the speed of light.
Bellatus battle strategy
Martial Arts: standard (rank 1)
This is his most used power so as not to harm innocent people. Bellatus taught him this as a form of muay-thai kickboxing, that always targets the opponents weakest points.
