Bringing about a New World Order in order to Save the World.
KALI is a conglomeration of organizations who directly or indirectly work towards a common goal: Ensure that the events of the world flow in a particular direction that suits the desires of the conspiracy.
KALI consists of various “Arms.” These Arms work independently of one another, and many of them are completely unaware that they serve a purpose beyond their own. Only a select few within each Arm is aware of the existence of the overarching conspiracy, and it is these individuals who try to steer their organizations in the direction decided by their superiors within KALI. Several corporations act as Arms of KALI, such as the major conglomerate DanCo and the entertainment company Seven Emblems, while other Arms are secretive organizations such as the mysterious Twilight Club and the infamous League of Assassins.
The existence of KALI is unknown to the average person on the street, and even those “in the know” are often unaware of the conspiracy. At best, those that are not directly reporting to the Council or are members of the Council only hear whispers and vague references to a larger force behind various nefarious acts transpiring across the world.
Or, as KALI member Unicorn Boy once put it, “This is some serious James Bond shit going on up in this place. Who do we think we are, SPECTRE?”
The answer to that question is “Yes, and a hell of a lot more.”
KALI is an extremely diverse organization. Almost any sort of villain can belong to the group, ranging from an assassin participating in the “games” of the League of Assassins to a crime boss who answers to a mysterious benefactor who makes odd requests of him every now and then to rogue adventurers hired by a shady corporation raiding ancient tombs at the bottom of the sea for their mystical artifacts. The key to the organization is that there’s always some overarching reason to their actions-- everything is leading to something bigger. This is a conspiracy, after all. For story purposes, a member of KALI will rarely ever discuss KALI. What matters is that their actions always seem to have a larger meaning behind them that isn’t quite obvious at first.
The big question: WHY is KALI doing this?
To save the world on their own terms. The catch is that we may not like those terms.
