I stood before the fallen priest's bleeding corpse. I knew what I had done but still couldn't comprehend the reality of the situation. He was dead. A man I had never met before the moment I killed him. He was simply another mark-- just another poor sap in the way of my immediate survival. I just wanted the wad of cash inside the donation box wrapped within his arms. Unlike every other poor sap before him, though, he fought back. I didn't know how to react. I merely did what would come naturally. I killed him. Two bullets in his chest. A pool of his blood engulfing the money I killed him for, staining it beyond use. I stood before the corpse, dumbfounded at my actions. Then the shadows appeared. At first I believed they were merely illusions-- delusions brought on by my aforementioned sin. They oozed forth from the cracks and crevaces of the broken-down chapel. As my senses came back to me I could see the creatures huddled around the priest's dead form. After a few moments the beasts started to feast upon the priest's body, and within seconds nothing was left but a faint human-shaped light where the body once laid. Once this glowing body was revealed, the shadows shrieked with glee and grabbed the body from every angle. I don't remember the exact sound I made. Maybe I screamed or merely gasped, but the shadows finally took notice to my pressence. At first I thought they merely ignored me, since the creatures returned to their diabolical actions, but one creature broke from the pack, as if guided by a higher authority, and approached me. The beast had no eyes that I could visibly see, but I could feel its gaze. And with that, everything went black.

The first thing I noticed was the overpowering bite of cold in the air. I struggled to open my eyes, despite fearing what I may see. It was only then that I realized that something was speaking to me. "A curious thing you have done, Furious. How do you feel about taking the life of one of God's messengers?" That was the problem. I felt nothing. No remorse. No sense of victory. He was merely dead. Nothing more. Nothing less. "Do you truly fail to understand your actions and the magnitude of their consequences, or do you merely choose to ignore those consequences?" I had no answer. Never before had I been forced to look within. Before this moment I was the sum of my actions and not the sum of my thoughts. Which proved to be my greatest sin. I could feel the voice take great delight as the pain shot through my body. I vaguely remember what happened after this. Brief flashes of indescribable pain as if my body was being crafted into something altogether inhuman. As I awoke from this metamorphosis, I heard the voice one last time. "Your destiny has been rewritten. You are now God's messenger!" And at that moment it became clear. I knew what I must do.

Walking With Spirits

     Phasing: Superior

As my fate became more evident to me, nights steadily grew longer-- days soon lost their meaning-- I felt my grip on the material plane loosening. No longer was I defined by flesh and bone. I was slowly learning to traverse the realm of the dead and the damned. As I walked these desolated streets I saw acts of treachery and debauchery which far surpassed my own sins. With these sights came an epiphany. If I am able to reach into their world, then certainly they can reach into ours. My redemption lies in part preventing this evil from running rampant in the world of the living. And so I now straddle that line between the living and the dead in hopes that I can one day truly rejoin the realm of the living and end this horrible curse.

Exorcism

     Psychic Vampire: Ultimate

  • Auto-Hit Attack

The battle had lasted for what seemed like days. I found myself locked in murderous combat with one whose name I refuse to speak for reasons that will soon become clear. My being was on the verge of collapse as the beast's talons ripped through my body and soul. Then quiet settled in and I readied myself for what I believed was my inevitable failure. Time stopped. With failure within my grasp I called out to God for mercy. My body began to convulse and then it happened. Light began to spew forth from my center in a hellacious display of divine wrath. I stripped the demon's soul and made it mine. Just as the voice sculpted my form, I sculpted the demon's soul into a firearm that could bring punishment to those who would deny me my own redemption. This was to be but the first of many exorcisms. Many a demon would lose its name and essence to my God-given ability.

Looking back, I could not have forseen the consequences of making that first demon one with me. The demon and I often have long and meaningful conversations in which I am taught good from evil-- right from wrong-- a deeper understanding of where into whom my duty lies. With its guidance and its seemingly divine power we vanquish those that would stand in our way. Sitting at my side like a gun in my holdster, the demon and I rain down God's justice upon those that seek to corrupt the innocent.
