"I have seen him. He's real I tell you! REAL!" The man shouted at the cell guard.
"Alright, I believe you, he's real okay? Now shut up and pipe down before I decide to add my nightstick to your nightmarish delusions." The security guard said as he bit into a bagel.
"You just don't get it, got to get out, got to get out now we have no time, we have got to get OUT!" He said with a slam against the bars of his cell as the shadows increased inside the tiny space.
The guard went to hush him up when he heard a gargled scream come from the man's cell. He walked closer to find the man's hands still attached to the bars of the prison cell.
"What the hell?!" He cringed as he opened the cell up to reveal a shadow disappear from the room before he could get a good look at it.
"HEY are you okay!?" He ran to the cellmate who was already dead and found a book.
Inside the book the security guard found sections of writing pertaining to a man said to possess both a physical body and an astral body that has said to have lived for over ten thousand years. He dropped the book out of what he called boredom, but he was actually scared to death as the legend might hold some truth after what he had seen in that cell. He proceeded to examine the man's corpse more thoroughly to try and find anything else that might help determine what caused him to die.
"BOO!" A man said as he walked up behind the already spooked guard.
"AAAAAHHH!" He screamed as he turned around and punched his partner in the nose for being an jerk. "Don't do that. I have enough problems already." He said as he looked down at the body again.
"Whoa, what happened here Jim?" The guards friend asked with suspicion. Jim shook his head.
"I don't really know myself. The guy went crazy and then when I went to check on him after he screamed he was like this." The other man said nothing as Jim turned around to find his friend was missing something.
"AAA..AAAA.......!" He tried to scream but was too frightened by the fact that his friend was now twitching headless in front of him before falling to the ground.
Jim ran for the main office of the prison and found the secretary dead as well, which only furthered his heart pounding experience.
"I have got to find out what's going on here!" He said as he ran towards the warden's office, hoping to find some clues as to why his co-workers were dieing left and right.
"Sir! Sir, some weird stuff is going on and peo...ple are......dieing....." He said as his words were stopped by the horror of seeing the wardens body or pieces of it slung all over the room in a twisted artwork of death.
The man fell to his knees, eyes twitching and heart racing as he let out a fearful yell as a man in red dropped down in front of him.
"Are you afraid?" The man in red asked. Jim looked up and stared into the mans glowing red eyes, as if he were looking into a flame.
"I am terrified. Did you do all of this?" Jim asked expecting what was about to happen to be his last moments of life.
"That depends on what you mean by "what I did or didn't do." He said with a smirk. Jim felt a rush of painfully obvious indications that he should run go through his mind, but he wasn't able to move.
"If you are afraid of what lurks in the shadows, why not become the shadows?" Jim listened to the man's words and felt that they had some sense to them.
"How, would I do that?" The man in red smiled and laughed as the shadows began to quiver with fear as if they were afraid of the man standing before them.
"That's easy, you have to die to become one with the shadows. But are you willing to pay that price for the exchange?" He said as the shadows all over the room seemed to run in different directions out of fear.
