Saturday Night, Evansville, Indiana, Present Day:
A group of wild teenagers all sat in the living room of Cait’s apartment, taking turns smoking the same joint. The communal weed made its way to Geoff, who coughed as he took it from Aaron. He inhaled lightly and coughed again, “I love this shit, bra, where’d you get it?”
“Umm,” Cait laughed obnoxiously, “From under my carpet?”
“Mmhmm,” Geoff smiled, “Carpet weed…” the group laughed harder than they should have.
“Oh **** it,” Julia threw the pillow on her lap away and flung herself upon Aaron, “Take me now, Aaron!” The two began to make out heavily as the rest of them continued to get higher and higher.
The only teen not participating, sat in the corner in with an uncomfortable look on his face.
“Cody,” Cait swayed as she tried to get his attention, “Come over here.”
“No, no,” Cody shook his head, “I’m fine.”
“But you’re not having fun,” she pouted, “Common over here!”
“When did you say that girl was going to get here?” he asked changing subjects.
“Abby?” Cait said after a pause, “Abby will be here soon, here have some of this.” She extended her arm and tried to hand it to him.
Then there was a knock at the door. “I’ll get it!” Cody rushed to the door and opened it (which was good because the rest of them really couldn’t walk straight anyway).
He reached the door and opened it quickly. A lovely girl with jet black hair, stunning green eyes and a short green dress stood there, “Hello.” She said coldly, with a cold half-smile.
“Hiya!” Cody blurted out, trying to keep his tongue in his mouth.
“Can I come in?” she asked.
“Yeah, sure, sure!” She scissor stepped into the apartment looking around the ceiling.
“Nice house, Cait,” the new girl went over to the host of this party bending over to give her a hug. Cody looked straight up so he made sure not to sneak a peek of her up her dress.
“Hi Abby!” Cait yelled as she hugged the new girl, “I missed you so hard! Did you bring the stuff?”
“Yeah,” Abby produced a bottle from behind her back.
“Ohhh,” Cait tried to read the label of the bottle but the light it seemed to be emitting made it impossible for her to read, “What is this shit?”
“Its Absinthe,” Abby said, “Very alcoholic, very illegal.”
“Oh!” Cait clapped, “Yay! Me first!” she took the bottle and took a little swig. “Woah!” she coughed, “That’s good!”
“Me, me,” Geoff said slowly and took a drink. They passed it around the room.
Cody sighed. This girl was only interested in getting high too. He never should’ve gone to this party. He went into the other room, unseen by the others, and sat on the bed, hunched over in depression.
He sat there for a while until Abby poked her head into the room, “Hello,” she said, “Can I come in?”
“Sure,” Cody said depressed, “If you wanna.”
She strolled in bottle in hand, it had been revenged, there was only a sip left. She held it out loosely, waiting for him to take it, “Want some?”
“Nah,” Cody sighed again, “Not feelin’ it”
“Why not?” she cocked her head to the side.
“Father was a drunk,” Cody answered, “I don’t want to be like him, you know?”
“I see,” she said un-phased, placing the bottle on a nearby end table, “Good night then.” She turned around abruptly and left the room.
Cody hung his head and sighed. This girl was cold and emotionless. And it was creepy. She was gorgeous, but she just emitted this unpleasantness that covered her beauty.
Cody was lost in thought when he heard Cait’s blood curdling scream. Cody got up and ran to the door he was horrified at what he saw.
